With the NAB Show only a few days away I’m struck by how far Forscene has come since I joined Forbidden.
My first NAB with the company was in 2011 when a handful of us managed a tiny booth with a single demo screen and a few workflow posters tacked onto the wall. Four years on and we’ve got a booth we can be proud of in a great South Lower location. Our Commercial, Marketing and R&D teams are on hand with multiple demo areas and – perhaps most importantly – we’ve got our own bar fridge!
Here are some of the things that I’m looking forward to this year…
A lot of exhibitors dread “set up Saturday” but for us it’s relatively easy-going. Our friends at Tradefair will build our booth before we even arrive and, because we’re a cloud service, once we’ve got an Internet connection in place we’re pretty much good to go. We begin our NAB journey with the IABM NAB Show Advance Party on Saturday night.
On Sunday we’ll be joined by our resellers from the US, Canada, Europe and Singapore when we host our first reseller event. We’re looking forward to introducing them to the extended Forscene team (including our Marketing Director, Aziz Musa, at his first NAB) and showing off the new Forscene developments. We’ll also discuss how we will support our post house, integration and traditional reseller partners going forward. The day couldn’t end without a good night out and as sponsors of SVG we felt obliged to accept the invitation to their NAB Pre-Game Party!
Monday to Thursday is pretty much jammed with meetings at our booth – both with existing and potential clients. It’s great to see appointments with companies like deltatre, EVS, Fox Sports, BBC Sports, Microsoft Azure, Sunset + Vine, Rogers and many more in the diary. Our marketing team and PR agency, Wall Street, have done a great job in co-ordinating the long list of trade journalists lining up to see what’s happening in the world of Forscene. Look out for our video interviews with TVBay, InBroadcast and the new IABM TV initiative!
We’re offering visitors to our booth the choice of three different Forscene demos this year – each of which focuses on a different sector:
- Longform post – our traditional logging, search, offline edit, review & approval workflows. Added functionality includes live logging, using our Xkeys tagging system and up to 18 camera multicam post.
- Sport – our virtualised workflow integrating deltatre, Microsoft Azure and Forscene of course. This ground-breaking integration project provides a completely hardware-independent solution to the post-production and distribution of web-based content for sports events.
- News – we’ve invited our partners at Field59 onto our booth to demonstrate an end-to-end solution for news channels looking for a managed, monetized workflow.
The week wouldn’t be complete without catching up with old friends and hopefully making some new ones. We’ll be presenting at FileCatalyst’s booth on Tuesday and giving our livers a rest on Monday night when we join Object Matrix for their sports evening. I’ll be the guy standing around, shouting at others to pass me the ball.
All said a great week lies ahead – see you in Vegas!
Jason
