Operations Manager – (London)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience 

This role is ideal for those with experience in technical operations, service operations and project management looking for a role in a fast-paced video technology company. This is an active, hands on role.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Technical leadership to both oversee and be hands on in deployments and trials/demos
  • Project management skills for planning and delivering upon timelines and balance urgency against the needs of the business
  • Able to effectively manage change control, risk and scope of multiple projects
  • Investigate and resolve technical defects by all means possible and in consultation with end user and technical customers as well as the internal commercial, product and R&D teams
  • Forms part of a 24/7/365 support team – shifts will include evenings, overnights and weekends on call
  • Assist end users of Blackbird with operational questions
  • Complies with company policies & processes, particularly for delivery, commercial processes & security
  • Monitor and report uptime and service levels in accordance with customer contracts
  • Manage and control platform access and data retention, adhering to company security and privacy policies
  • Proactive and adaptable and willing to assist all departments as required

Your Competencies:

  • Keen to learn multiple business skills with direct customer contact and excellent communication
  • Strong technical background with experience of IT technologies including Linux, VMs, cloud and networking (essential)
  • Management of service level agreements and involvement in security/privacy policy implementation/management (preferable)
  • Scripting and API integration work for demonstrations (preferable)
  • Experience of video technologies including ingest, codecs, streaming technologies (RTMP, HLS, SDI) and delivery platforms (CMS, CDN, social platforms)
  • Keen to grow skills and knowledge in a fast-paced technology company (essential)
  • Understanding of video production workflows and some experience of video editing (preferable)
  • Approachable and friendly to marketing, sales, R&D, support staff, business colleagues and customers (essential)

Education: Degree in IT or media/broadcast technology, GCSE (including Maths and English) or equivalent (Required)
