London, UK, 25 April 2006: Forbidden Technologies today announces that its FORscene product is being used by the British Army in its latest multimedia recruitment drive, which involves an expedition to the summit of Mount Everest via The West Ridge. FORscene is being employed to publish the latest videos of the expedition onto the mobile phones of interested parties and potential recruits.
A team of Army mountaineers began the expedition in March 2006 aiming to become the first Brits ever to conquer Everest via the treacherous West Ridge. The summit attempt will take place in May 2006 coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the first Army Mountaineering Associations summit of Everest.
Forbiddens FORscene post production tool has been chosen to provide mobile updates of the expedition. Viewers can catch up with the highs and lows of the summit attempt by downloading a branded player from the expedition website to their mobile handset, and will get a text message alert whenever another video is ready for download.
“This project with the British Army further demonstrates the versatility of Forbiddens FORscene platform for mobile publishing,”
said Stephen Streater CEO of Forbidden Technologies.
“This expedition is an amazing feat for the army, and publishing video updates onto peoples mobile phones is a great way to publicise the event.”
In addition to the climb, the teams will also be raising money for charity and assisting medical teams in researching cures into cystic fibrosis and the affects of altitude on the human body. For updates on the expedition, visit www.armyoneverest.mod.uk.
