Computer Weekly writes: “[Vodafone and Orange] have invested in a US software startup developing an operating system based on Java technology. Orange and Vodafone … have invested $17.5m in SavaJe Technologies in a drive ‘for open standards and greater choice’, said Vodafone”. News.com informs us Sun’s executive vice president for software as saying “100 million phones have shipped with Java so far. Programmers inevitably will follow that popularity”.
