Editor UX/UI improvements
Blackbird has focused on a number of user interface design and functionality improvements aimed at easing adoption for those coming from other tools and speeding up operation of the existing workflows. The ultimate goal is to improve end user experience.
Numerous changes are available in this release with further updates coming in December and into 2024. Improvements include style, colour and functionality enhancements and a new timeline control approach which will be much easier for those coming from other NLEs to learn and use.
The latest upgrade to the Blackbird platform is due to be released 7th November 2023.
This update will be made available during a maintenance window of 11:00-16:00 BST (6:00-11:00 EST) on the day.

A new two stage tooltip with faster pop on and hover behaviours has been added for improved feature discovery. This will gain further improvements with linked knowledgebase articles for further context on what each application function does
Keyboard macro undo/redo
A keyboard macro is a highly efficient way of combining a number of editor actions to a single button press. We now support one click undo/redo for these macros which can contain many steps. This is for improved editor speed.
New keyboard shortcuts
Added keyboard shortcuts for folder creation, jump to next/previous in point and zoom to fit timeline. These can be assigned to your preferred keys and aid editor speed/efficiency.
New audio preferences menu (track and view modes)
A new menu containing the audio track monitoring options is now available along with the ability to choose your preferred audio view type between the Blackbird audio levels view for highly accurate display or a more standard waveform view. This is to aid feature and workflow understanding for users coming from other video and audio editing tools.
Updated branding within editor
Numerous branding and editor look/feel updates are on the way over the next few months, this release includes updated editor logos and fonts.
Next phases include additional colour and style updates
Simplified launch options
Blackbird no longer presents multiple launch modes for the editor and uses the account default for simplicity of user experience.

Numerous updates to backend and Edge infrastructure for latest python3 and Angular for long term supportability.
Enhanced username security and user account blocking controls.
