Product updates: July 2025

Blackbird’s latest product release updates video processing, operating system and integration areas of the product and technology.

The latest upgrade to the Blackbird platform is due to be released on 15th July 2025 and will be made available during a maintenance window of 11:00-16:00 BST (6:00-11:00 EST) on the day.

Extended colourspace support

Blackbird has extended our handling of colourspaces to include BT470 (SD NTSC) for improved compatibility with older capture devices in addition to the changes already available for SDR and HDR content ingest.

HEIC file format

Blackbird now supports the ingest of HEIC format images. These are typically ‘live’ mode images from Apple devices. Blackbird will use the assigned keyframe from these files as the still used in the editor.

Edge Operating system update including SDI capture

Blackbird Edge runs on a Debian based operating system or container image. We have updated this to Debian 12 (Bookworm) in line with the general Debian lifecycle and support for updates and security patches. Support will be scheduling your routine updates with you.
