Blackbird can now accept animated GIF ingest via web upload, the ideal use case being for full frame animated background images for edits.
This latest upgrade to the Blackbird platform is due to be released on 12th November 2024 and will be made available during a maintenance window of 11:00-16:00 GMT (6:00-11:00 EST) on the day.
Animated GIF ingest
Blackbird can now accept animated GIF ingest via web upload. There are a number of supported animated image formats with GIF being the most widely adopted. Note that Blackbird has supported GIF export for a number of years. This update brings the ability to import a full frame GIF for use in an edit session much like any other video clip. Ideal use cases are for full frame animated background images for edits.
Blackbird Edge Operating System Updates
Blackbird Edge is built upon the widely adopted Debian Linux. For ongoing updates we will be moving to Debian 11 (Bullseye). Please expect support to be in contact with your administration and technical teams to coordinate these upgrades.
